Visiting a new dentist for the first time can come with a mix of feelings—curiosity, nervousness, even a bit of hesitation. At Keelesdale Dental, we do everything we can to help you feel relaxed, informed, and confident from the moment you walk through our doors. Whether you’re new to the area or haven’t been to the dentist in a while, here’s what your first visit with us will look like.
A Warm Welcome at the Front Desk
When you arrive at our clinic at Keele and Eglinton West, you’ll be greeted by our friendly front-desk team. They’ll guide you through a quick check-in process and offer any help you might need with forms, insurance details, or directions around the clinic. We offer a secure online portal where you can complete paperwork in advance, but if you prefer to do it in person, we’ll make it simple and stress-free.
We also keep our waiting area comfortable and family-friendly, with water, Wi-Fi, and a play corner for children.
An Introduction to Your Dental Team
At Keelesdale Dental, we believe that trust starts with good communication. During your first visit, you’ll meet one of our experienced dentists—Dr. Gayle Wagman, Dr. Michelle Chrystal, or Dr. Matthew Laski. They’ll take time to get to know you, ask about your dental history, and understand any concerns or goals you have for your oral health.
This conversation sets the tone for your care. Whether you’re here for a routine check-up, a second opinion, or a specific issue, we’ll meet you where you are—with no pressure and no judgment.
A Comprehensive Exam
Your first visit includes a full oral health assessment. This may include:
-
Digital X-rays to check for hidden issues like cavities or bone loss
-
Intraoral photos to provide a clear view of your teeth and gums
-
A screening for gum disease, bite problems, and signs of oral cancer
-
A thorough review of any symptoms you may be experiencing
This is not a rushed process. We explain each step and take time to answer your questions. Our goal is to give you a complete picture of your current oral health and provide information you can trust.
Personalized Treatment Planning
Once the exam is complete, your dentist will walk you through the findings using clear visuals and plain language. We’ll explain any concerns, discuss options, and work with you to create a treatment plan that fits your needs, budget, and timeline.
We believe in informed decisions. You’ll receive written treatment options, complete with costs and timelines, so you can consider your next steps without feeling rushed.
If everything looks healthy and no immediate treatment is needed, we’ll recommend a cleaning schedule and help you set up your next routine visit.
Comfort Comes First
We understand that some patients feel anxious about dental care, especially during a first visit. That’s why our clinic is designed with comfort in mind. From ergonomic chairs to calming music, we create an environment that puts patients of all ages at ease.
If you feel nervous about any part of your visit, let us know. We offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation for certain procedures and always take time to explain what’s happening so you’re never caught off guard.
What to Bring With You
To make your first visit as smooth as possible, please bring:
-
A valid piece of ID
-
Your dental insurance information (if applicable)
-
A list of any medications you’re taking
-
Any recent dental records, if you’re transferring from another clinic
You’re also welcome to bring a family member or friend if that helps you feel more at ease.
After Your Visit
Following your appointment, our team will send you home with any relevant instructions and help schedule your next visit. You’ll also have access to our secure patient portal, where you can review appointment details, make payments, and update your information at any time.
We want your first visit to be the beginning of a long, comfortable relationship with our team. Our goal is to earn your trust, provide exceptional care, and help you feel confident about every decision.
